Chief Judge Vogel Retirement Ceremony June 13, 2019

On Thursday, June 13, the Iowa Court of Appeals will hold a special ceremony to mark the retirement of Chief Judge Gayle Nelson Vogel. This public ceremony will be at 3:00 p.m. in the supreme court courtroom on the fourth floor of the Judicial Branch Building, 1111 E. Court Ave., Des Moines. Overflow seating will be available in the auditorium and elsewhere in the building. Chief Judge Vogel will retire July 1, 2019.

Juvenile Court Services moved to Cerro Gordo County Courthouse

Juvenile Court Services has temporarily moved from the Mohawk Square Building, 22 N. Georgia Ave. Suite 101, Mason City, to the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse, 220 North Washington Avenue, Mason City, after the Mohawk Square Building roof collapsed during last weekend’s heavy rainfall. It is not known when the building will reopen to the public.

Justice McDonald Investiture April 5, 2019

Des Moines, Iowa—On Friday, April 5, at 3:00 p.m., Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds will administer the oath of office to Iowa Supreme Court Justice Christopher McDonald in a public ceremony in the supreme court courtroom in the Judicial Branch Building, 1111 E. Court Ave., Des Moines. Justice McDonald, Des Moines, will fill the vacancy that resulted from the resignation of Justice Daryl Hecht.
