Follow this link for the FY24 Iowa Judicial Branch budget request letter from the State Court Administrator to the Iowa legislature leadership and a budget request overview.
The budget request letter and overview do not show percentage or dollar amounts for non-judicial officer pay raises because this is a contract bargaining year and the initial budget request cannot include any number reference for non-judicial officer raises. The judicial branch cannot influence the contract bargaining that is happening for employees in any way. Once the contract bargaining is completed, the state court administrator will submit a revised budget letter to the legislature that includes amounts for across-the-board and in-grade pay raises for non-judicial officers. Pay raises are the most important piece of the legislative budgetary request. All judicial branch employees will receive a link to the revised letter when it is sent to the legislature.
“As I have talked with you in my travels and email correspondences, salary increases have been the largest concern,” State Court Administrator Bob Gast said. “I can assure you this is my largest concern also. Every position in the branch from judge to judicial specialist deserves to be compensated for the jobs you do every day.”
