Case No. 22-0759

Alexandria M. Anderson, Individually and as Administrator of the Estate of Carter Jay William Anderson, and Terry Anderson, Individually
v.
State of Iowa

Alexandria M. Anderson, Individually and as Administrator of the Estate of Carter Jay William Anderson (the decedent) and Terry Anderson, Individually, seek appeal of the district court’ s order granting the State’s motion to dismiss their claims of professional negligence for the treatment provided to decedent, a minor child, by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The Estate and the Andersons argue the district court erred in dismissing their suit for their failure to exhaust administrative remedies, in finding the Attorney General had no duty to investigate their claims, in determining that parents alone have the right to file a loss of parental consortium claim, in holding that Mrs. Anderson’s appointment as administrator did not relate back to the time of filing, and in denying the Estate and the Andersons’ motion to seal record exhibit.
