Judge Ashley Stewart, Des Moines, was appointed to the bench in 2024. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Houston in 2003 and her law degree from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2009. Prior to her appointment, Judge Stewart was a criminal defense solo practitioner, a claims specialist at Nationwide Insurance, and an assistant appellate defender for the State of Iowa Appellate Defender’s Office. She is a member of the Iowa National Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association, and Polk County Women Attorneys. She is married with two children.
